Kalvelage wins top prize at the NY World Wine & Spirits Competition, the 3rd in a row

Kalvelage participated in the event considered one of the largest in the retail beverage industry in the world, the NY World Wine & Spritis Competition, which is organized by the prestigious Tasting Alliance, the same group responsible for The San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the Singapore World Spirits Competition.

The competition aims to reward the best drinks produced around the world. The competition is judged by renowned professionals with extensive experience in the sector. For 3 days, judges participate in blind evaluations and give ratings for each drink they try.

After the evaluations are finished, a ranking is made to find out which drinks received the best scores. Afterwards, they are awarded a double gold, gold, silver and bronze medal.

In 2023, Kalvelage achieved the milestone of winning 1 double gold medal and 2 gold medals, with 3 different distillates.

Kalvelage Vibe Vodka won the gold medal at this year’s World Wine & Spirits Competition, its 13th medal in an international competition.

Ingredients:

1 shot of Kalvelage Blended Whiskey;

2 slices of Ginger;

20 ml honey syrup;

20 ml lemon juice;

Ice.

 

Method of preparation:

In a cocktail shaker, add two slices of ginger and muddle well. Add honey syrup, lemon juice, 1 shot of Kalvelage Blended Whiskey, and soooo much ice. Beat the mixture well, strain and finish with two slivers of ginger.

Drinks with ice cream

Nutella ice cream with vodka

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Nutella
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • ½ cup of cream
  • 1 cup milk (not skimmed)
  • 1 tablespoon Kalvelage Vibe Vodka

Method of preparation:

Beat Nutella, sugar, cream, milk and vodka until evenly mixed. Place the mixture in an ice cream maker and then let it freeze for four hours before serving.

Strawberry caipilé

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml Kalvelage Vibe Vodka
  • 45 ml simple syrup
  • 5 fresh strawberries
  • 1 condensed milk popsicle
  • Ice

Method of preparation:

Add the strawberries to a shaker and muddle them. Add simple syrup, vodka and ice. Cover and beat well. Serve in a glass and finally add the condensed milk popsicle.

Ice cream milkshake with vodka and Oreo cookies

Ingredients:

  • Kalvelage Vibe Vodka
  • Flakes ice cream
  • Condensed milk (to taste)
  • 4 Oreo cookies
  • Chantilly
  • Crushed ice

Method of preparation:

Beat the vodka, ice cream, condensed milk, and 3 of the Oreo cookies. After mixing, place in a glass, add crushed ice, decorate with whipped cream and half an Oreo cookie (to decorate). The quantity of ingredients varies according to the desired number of servings.

Collins Popsicle

Ingredients:

  • Kalvelage Vodka Vibe or Kalvelage London Dry Gin
  • Sugar syrup (equal parts water and sugar stirring over medium heat until smooth)
  • Champagne or Prosecco
  • Lemon popsicle

Method of preparation:

In a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice add half a part of sugar syrup to 2 parts of the distillate of your choice. Serve strained in a tall glass with some ice. Dip the popsicle in the cocktail, top up with the sparkling wine you chose, insert a straw and be happy!

Coconut ice cream shake with vodka

Ingredients:

  • 2 scoops of coconut flavored ice cream
  • 1 ½ shot (50/60ml) of Kalvelage Vibe Vodka
  • 1 shot (50/60ml) of milk
  • 4 ice cubes
  • Grated coconut to decorate

Method of preparation:

Place the coconut ice cream, milk and vodka in a blender and blend until well combined. After adding the ice cubes and grated coconut to decorate.

Frozen Sex

Ingredients:

  • 125ml of Vodka Kalvelage Vibe
  • 1 drizzle of coffee liqueur
  • 8 ice cubes
  • 8 tablespoons of chocolate ice cream

Method of preparation:

Place 6 scoops of ice cream in the blender with the alcoholics and blend on low speed. Add the ice and beat some more. Decorate with whipped cream or chocolate chips, then serve in a tall glass with wide straws and/or a small spoon.

Drink recipes to refresh your spring

We are in a new season, and with it different drinks are beginning to appear. In this post, we’re going to talk about some spring drinks that you can prepare to brighten your day.

Unlike winter, now the weather is starting to warm up. We no longer need drinks to warm us up. Soon, the heat will dominate the atmosphere and cold drinks will take over the bars.

Spring is also known as the season of flowers. Soon, spring drinks will be sweeter drinks, with the presence of fruits and beautiful colors. Floral touches are also present.

Spring drink recipes

CLASSIC GIN TONIC

This drink is perfect for this time of year, as it is light and low in calories. You can do it without fear, you won’t regret it.

Ingredients:

  • 50 ml of Kalvelage London Dry Gin
  • 120 ml of tonic water
  • 15 ml of lemon juice
  • Ice
  • Garnish: choose between lemon and orange slice or grapefruit with rosemary

Method of preparation:

In a low glass, place the gin, lemon and orange slice (or grapefruit with rosemary) and top up with ice. Add the tonic and serve immediately.

Vodka Caipiroska with Pepper and Mango (for the daring)

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots of Kalvelage Vibe Vodka
  • 50g mango
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar (or two, if you prefer it sweeter)
  • ½ unit of diced finger-de-moça pepper

Method of preparation:

Mix the pepper, mango and sugar in the shaker, then add the Vodka. It’s not necessary to beat too much. Then, just add the ice.

Bee’s Knees (for the traditional)

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml of Kalvelage London Dry Gin
  • 25 ml honey syrup
  • 15 ml lemon juice

Method of preparation:

Shake gin, syrup and lemon juice with ice. Serve in a doubleoldfashion glass with ice and a slice of lemon. Tip: to make honey syrup, mix equal parts honey and water and stir until you have a homogeneous mixture. If you can, use very large or round ice, they take longer to melt and give a cool look. What to combine with: because it’s the best time for honey (spring has more pollen, so honey has more different “flowers” in it), it goes well with desserts with honey or fruit salads.

Nitecap

The drink is made with vodka infused with hibiscus flowers. For those who like a more fruity, tropical and intense drink.

Ingredients:

  • 50 ml Vodka infused with hibiscus flower
  • 20 ml sour strawberry reduction
  • 10 ml tangerine oil
  • 20 ml lemon

Method of preparation:

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a tall glass and decorate with a flower.

Classic Caipiroska

Ingredients:

  • 60ml of Vodka Kalvelage Vibe
  • 1 Tahiti lemon with peel (optional: without peel)
  • 2 tablespoons of crystal sugar (or demerara) or 15 ml of sugar syrup

Method of preparation:

In a glass, add the sugar, vodka and lemon and gently macerate. Add ice and stir well. Now just enjoy!

Moscow Mule

Ingredients:

  • 30 ml of Tahiti lemon juice;
  • 60 ml of Kalvelage Vibe Vodka;
  • 30 ml of ginger syrup;
  • 5 ice cubes;
  • Club Soda to top it off.

Method of preparation:

In a cocktail shaker, add all ingredients except Club Soda. Lightly beat the mixture and pour it into a mug. Finally, top off the drink with Club Soda, stir with a spoon and garnish with a slice or peel of Tahiti lime.

If you want the drink with foam, we recommend using a siphon. Just add all the ingredients to the siphon, close and store in the refrigerator until ready to use. Before serving, charge the siphon with a gas capsule. Shake well and let it rest for half an hour. Use the foam to finish the drink. This recipe makes enough foam for many glasses, so prepare it to share with family and friends!

In the month of August, it’s time to celebrate another Father’s Day. Today is the day to take care of those who took care of us so much and show our gratitude. More than a hug and a gift, it’s also the day to prepare drinks with Kalvelage for your father! Therefore, we have separated some recipes to please and toast all parents.

Drinks for Father’s Day

Lemon and ruby grape caipiroska

Does your dad like more classic drinks? Then caipiroska is the right choice for him! This is one of the main vodka drinks, and he will definitely love it.

Ingredients:

  • 50 ml of Kalvelage Vibe Vodka;
  • ⅞ peeled Tahiti lemon into cubes;
  • 7 ruby grapes delicately crushed;
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar;
  • Ice.

Method of preparation:

In a cocktail shaker, add the lemon and sugar and muddle. Add the 7 crushed grapes and Kalvelage Vibe Vodka. Top up with ice and mix well, still in the shaker. Then just serve! Add a slice of lemon to the glass to decorate.

OAK Coke

A different drink, which combines the classic flavor of cola with the unique nuances of American oak extract from Kalvelage Oak Vodka. Your father will be surprised by so many flavors!

Ingredients:

  • 50 ml of Kalvelage Oak Vodka;
  • 20 ml of Tahiti lemon (optional);
  • Ice;
  • Coke soda.

Method of preparation:

Fill a glass with ice. Then pour in the Kalvelage Oak Vodka. Add the cola of your choice and finish with lemon (optional). Now just drink and enjoy Father’s Day.

Moscow Mule

Another classic drink on our list, served in a mug and can be with or without foam. The Moscow Mule helped popularize vodka in the United States and Canada, around the 1950s, and remains a very popular drink to this day.

Ingredients:

  • 30 ml of Tahiti lemon juice;
  • 60 ml of Kalvelage Vibe Vodka;
  • 30 ml of ginger syrup;
  • 5 ice cubes;
  • Club Soda to top it off.

Method of preparation:

In a cocktail shaker, add all ingredients except Club Soda. Lightly beat the mixture and pour it into a mug. Finally, top off the drink with Club Soda, stir with a spoon and garnish with a slice or peel of Tahiti lime.

In a glass with ice, add the vodka, campari and vermouth. Stir with a ballerina spoon until it becomes cold. Transfer only the liquid to a low glass containing large ice. Finish with an orange slice.

Gin Tonic

One of the most loved drinks in the world, gin and tonic is perfect for enjoying this special date with your father.

Learn how to use vodka in gastronomy

You already know that vodka is one of the most popular drinks in the world. Whether pure or in cocktails, it is always present. However, there is another very interesting way to use vodka: in gastronomy.

If vodka is the favorite on bartenders’ shelves, it is in the kitchen that it shows its versatility. In the same way we do with wines or beers, vodka can be used in the preparation of a more elaborate dish. Vodka enhances the flavor of the ingredients. When evaporating with the heat of the fire, vodka leaves its strong flavor in the food, making it even better.

About vodka

The distillate appeared in Russia in 1893, created by scientist Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev, who decided to mix water and alcohol in different proportions. After a year of studies, he reached the balance he wanted so much: 60% water and 40% alcohol.

In a short time, the colorless drink, with an alcohol content between 35% and 60% and a striking flavor, won the world. Currently, vodka is one of the most important drinks in the hands of bartenders, widely used in preparing drinks and also in culinary recipes, as well as being a great option to pair with certain dishes.

Drinks in gastronomy

The practice of using alcoholic beverages in gastronomy aims to transfer the flavor of the liquid ingredients to the food, since the alcohol completely evaporates during cooking. Even so, it is necessary to accurately measure the amount of drink when preparing it, so as not to lose your hand and overdo it. Each dish requires a different amount in its recipe. To marinate meat, for example, the ideal is for it to be submerged in the liquid. For flambéing or preparing a sauce, one glass is enough.

As with fermented beverages, distilled spirits imprint striking personalities on the creation of dishes due to the sensorial characteristics of their ingredients. However, to obtain the best result, in perfect harmony with the ingredients, it is important to pay attention, because all the alcohol must evaporate from the pan.

Many cooking techniques, such as flambé, are capable of transforming a simple dish preparation into a show in itself. It is worth noting, however, that despite being a very common method among chefs, it is a dangerous movement, so be careful. You can put the vodka in a ladle, set it on fire, and pour the burning liquid into the pan, rather than pouring the drink directly into the flame. It’s a simpler and even safer method – you’ll still put on a show!

Speaking of flambé, this is a cooking procedure in which alcohol is added to a hot pan to create an explosion of flames over the food. Flambar reduces the alcohol content of the dish, maintaining the flavors of the added drink.

In addition to recipes, vodka can be paired as a drink with various dishes. Some good options are salmon, caviar, almonds, preserved vegetables and fruits, sausage and feijoada.

Using vodka in gastronomy

Nothing better than practical examples of how we can use vodka in gastronomy, do you agree? So let’s look at some recipes with Kalvelage.

Penne with vodka sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 spoon of olive oil
  • Garlic and salt to taste (to sauté the sauce)
  • 1 glass or can of ready-made tomato sauce
  • 1 can or box of cream
  • 1 package of hard grain penne pasta
  • Parsley to taste
  • Parsley to taste

Method of preparation:

In the oil, add the garlic seasoning and salt, then add the tomato sauce and sauté. Leave on low heat, cooking for about 10 minutes, to thicken. Then add the vodka and cook for another 20 minutes. After 10 minutes of cooking with the vodka, cook the pasta for about 12 minutes (or follow the instructions on the package). Once cooked, drain the pasta and return it to low heat, adding the cream and parsley. Mix until the cream is very hot. Turn off the heat and add the red sauce. Serve very hot and, preferably, without grated cheese

Raspberry cheesecake with vodka

Ingredients:

  • 500g cream cheese;
  • 5 eggs;
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 300g cornstarch biscuits;
  • 250g unsalted butter;
  • 300g raspberries;
  • 10ml of vodka.

Method of preparation:

Preheat the oven to 180º. Using a blender, beat the cornstarch biscuit until it forms a flour. Add the butter to make a homogeneous dough. In a 26 cm round pan with a removable bottom, take this dough and cover the entire bottom of the pan. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.

Using a mixer, beat the egg yolks with 1 cup of sugar until a uniform, light cream forms. Add the cream cheese until everything is incorporated. Reserve. Beat the egg whites at low speed, mix with the egg yolks and cream cheese. Pour the contents of this cream on top of the pre-baked biscuit base and return everything to the oven for approximately 50 minutes or until the top is golden and firm. Remove and let cool.

In a pan, place the raspberries and vodka. Once the heat has subsided, add the rest of the sugar and stir over low heat until a thicker syrup forms, for about 25 minutes. Wait for the syrup to cool a little and cover the entire pan with the already baked cheesecake. Put everything in the fridge for 3 hours. Remove from the mold and serve.

Quentão Recipes

Quentão is a very popular drink in the Southeast and South of the country. It is typically made from mulled wine, spices and fruit. Our bartenders prepared two mulled recipes with Kalvelage Oak Vodka that will warm up and liven up your São João Festival.

Kalvelage Spice Quentão Recipe

Traditional quentão is good, but with Kalvelage Oak Vodka it gets even better!

Ingredients:

  • 750ml Kalvelage Oak Vodka
  • 500 ml mineral water
  • 7 cinnamon sticks (medium size)
  • 1 whole ginger
  • 2 Tahiti lemons cut into thin slices
  • 1 Bahia orange cut into slices
  • 120 gr of demerara sugar

Method of preparation:

In a pan, add the sugar with the ginger (peeled and sliced into fillets) and leave over low heat until it starts to caramelize. Add water and stir to avoid burning the sugar; add the cinnamon and heat until it boils. When it boils, reduce the heat and leave for 5 minutes. Then add the Oak, citrus fruits and keep for another 5 minutes over medium heat.

Kalvelage Fruit Quentão Recipe

Ingredients:

100 ml Kalvelage Oak Vodka

600 ml of smooth red wine

80 g demerara sugar

Fruits: apple, orange, cinnamon, clove

Method of preparation: Melt the sugar in a pan over high heat until caramelized and add the fruits and wine. Method of preparation: Melt the sugar in a pan over high heat until caramelized and add the fruits and wine.

Let it boil over low heat for 3 minutes and serve in a ceramic or earthenware mug. Drink hot.

Recipes with Paçoca

Paçoca is a delicacy that cannot be missed during Festa Junina. Generally, paçoca is eaten plain, but the combination of paçoca and vodka will win your heart. Check out the recipes for paçoca drinks that our bartenders prepare for the São João Festivities.

Paçoca Vodka recipe for June festival

Have you ever thought about a shot of paçoca? It will definitely liven up your June party! Just prepare in advance.

Ingredients:

  • 200 ml Kalvelage Vibe Vodka
  • 2 cylindrical paçocas

Method of preparation:

Break up the paçocas. Place them in a previously sterilized glass container. Add the vodka. Cover the container, shake well and let it rest for 24 hours at room temperature.

After this period, strain the mixture using a fine sieve or a coffee filter and transfer it to a sterilized glass bottle. Keep the bottle tightly closed and consume within a maximum of 30 days. It is not necessary to store it in the refrigerator. Serve the drink in a shot glass, and set aside a little for the next recipe.

Paçoca Martini Recipe

To prepare this drink with a festive flavor, you will need a little of the vodka infusion in paçoca, the one from the previous recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 30 ml of vodka infusion in paçoca
  • 30 ml Kalvelage Vibe Vodka
  • 10 ml sweet vermouth
  • 7.5 ml lemon juice
  • 2 drops of grapefruit bitters (optional)
  • Sicilian lemon to grease the rim of the glass
  • Crushed paçoca
  • Ice to taste

Method of preparation:

Add the paçoca vodka, Kalvelage Vibe Vodka, vermouth, lemon juice and drops of grapefruit bitters (if you decide to use them) in a cocktail shaker. Fill the remaining space with plenty of ice and shake well. Rub the Sicilian lemon on the rim of the martini glass and then dip the rim of the glass in the crushed paçoca. Strain the mixture from the shaker with a fine sieve directly into the martini glass. Decorate with a lemon peel on the rim of the glass.

  • 50 ml Kalvelage Oak Vodka
  • 01 teaspoon of bee honey
  • 03 ice cubes

Method of preparation: In a low glass, gently mix the honey with the Kalvelage Oak Vodka, add three ice cubes and enjoy the rich flavors of the honey with the notes of vanilla and caramel.

OAK Coke

Easy to make, Oak Cola is a classic drink revisited. It promises to gain loyal fans in Brazil.

  • 40 ml Kalvelage Oak Vodka
  • 20 ml Tahiti lemon juice (optional)
  • Cola soda to top off

Method of preparation:

In a glass with ice, add the cola of your choice

add Kalvelage Oak Vodka and lemon. Now just drink and have your new favorite happy hour drink.

Horse´s Neck

A classic American cocktail, the horse neck is enriched in flavors with Kalvelage Oak Vodka.

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml Kalvelage Oak Vodka
  • 2 rings of fresh ginger, macerated
  • 180 ml ginger tonic
  • 3 dashes of angostura
  • Long slice of Sicilian lemon for decoration

Method of preparation:

In a long glass, muddle the ginger with Kalvelage Oak Vodka. Add ginger tonic and ice. Stir gently, add the 3 drops of angostura and the lemon slice and serve. You will have a surprising drink in your hands, rich in spices.

Negroke (Reinterpretation of the Negroni)

Ingredients:

30 ml Kalvelage Oak Vodka

30 ml Campari

30 ml Red vermouth

Orange slice garnish

Ice

Method of preparation:

In a glass with ice, add the vodka, campari and vermouth. Stir with a ballerina spoon until it becomes cold. Transfer only the liquid to the lowball glass containing large ice. Finish with the orange slice.

Alexander Reread

Ingredients:

30 ml Kalvelage Oak Vodka

30 ml Cocoa cream

30 ml Milk cream

Method of preparation:

Shake the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, double strain into a martini glass, finish with nutmeg shavings or ground cinnamon.

Drink Recipe: Blueberry and Cashew Caipiroska

Unlike the traditional caipiroska, the version with blueberries and cashews is sweeter, perfect for a more intimate moment with the couple.

 

Ingredients:

50 ml Kalvelage Vibe Vodka

30 blueberries

1 tablespoon of sugar

1 small crushed cashew

Ice

 

Method of preparation:

Muddle the fruits with the sugar in the glass. Then add the vodka and fill the glass with ice. It’s ready to serve.

 

Drink Recipe: Amor I love you ❤️

The color of love, this drink with Kalvelage London Dry Gin will make you fall in love!

Ingredients:

Red fruit clarification

40 ml of Kalvelage London Dry Gin

20 ml sugar syrup

Garrison:

Two mint leaves and berries

 

How to prepare the clarification:

Macerate the red fruits (9 units), add 200 ml of milk and 30 ml of Tahiti lemon. Mix the base and leave it overnight. After this period, filter through a coffee filter and use the clarified liquid for your cocktail.

 

How to prepare the drink:

Add Kalvelage London Dry Gin and sugar syrup to your clarified drink.

Finish with two mint leaves and some red fruits.

 

Tangerine caipiroska with pink pepper for Valentine’s Day

Speaking of intimate moments, this is an aphrodisiac drink, to spice up your relationship and your Valentine’s Day!

 

Ingredients:

70 ml Kalvelage Vibe Vodka

Wedges of 1 tangerine

1 Spoon of sugar

5 ml Tahiti lemon juice

10 units of pink pepper

 

Method of preparation:

In a glass, gently macerate the tangerine segments, sugar, lemon juice, half of the pink pepper and Kalvelage vodka, add ice and stir well. Decorate with a few whole grains of pink pepper.
